Rihanna Hides R8 Tracks in Barbados iTunes Store

February 25, 2015

I’m sure by now many of you have heard the song “World Peace” by Billboard stalwart and general musical goddess, Rihanna. However if you’ve been looking for it on the U.S. iTunes Store you’re out of luck. It’s currently only available in the Barbados iTunes Store.

I’m convinced she just happened to place the song(s) there for safekeeping since chances are, no one realizes that they’re there to begin with!

Ironically, my iTunes account is set to the U.S. and I can’t access the store of my native country… You win Rihanna, I’ll wait until you release it on the continent.

Okay so this is all a lie. Sigh, but wouldn’t it have been cool?

Exercise Time! Or So I Tell Myself

January 24, 2014

Yup. Time to start back exercising. My body fat percentage is probably at 90 right now. That’s right folks – I’m being held together by lipids.

That having been said, I consider myself a sexy bag of lipids, but still – something must be done. Please bare in mind that I’m not making this decision for anyone other than me. My self-esteem is pretty solid, I might even venture to say high, so it’s not because I am crying myself to sleep while I have one hand In a large bag of Doritos while the other is flicking through Men’s Health and wishing I looked like the guy on the cover (and every ad – at least in the “after” photo as I currently resemble many “before” shots.)

I’m doing this simply because I recognize that I have been lazy. “Thick” is all well and fine but it ain’t thick if it jiggles lol. I could stand to tighten and tone especially since I adore food and cooking. Plus I’m not getting any younger and I rather put in the work now than have to put in way more work and down 100 pills for my10 physical problems like diabetes, hypertension, erectile dysfunction etc.

Now – where are my sneakers… The running ones not the leather ones that have never seen anything quicker then a rush for an evening sale.

Wish me luck! Tell me about your plans and routines, maybe I’ll adopt some of them in my quest to Adonis status!

The Peppermint Tea Goblin

January 19, 2014

20140119-143950.jpg

Living with others post your early 20s is always a challenge, regardless of who it is. I live with my parents – the worst example of people you can live with as a young adult. During this time you’re coming into your own; your own tastes, levels of comfort, preference of clothing optional in the kitchen etc. however you have to now temper that based on those around you and their own levels of comfort etc.

Fine.

However what really pisses me off is when you have a communal space where items are stored. Before I continue let me say this – I am not a selfish person. I love sharing with people who appreciate the things I do and it gives us something to chat and/or complain about in unison. BUT when people are clearly using your things without asking and more importantly TELLING you they’re using them, that right there folks is when tensions mount.

Those who know me are aware of my routines and my little obsessions. Peppermint tea and peach iced tea being two of them. I always keep a box of Heath & Heather peppermint tea in my cupboard to start the day, end the day, or to have a cup at some point during the day. It calms me and I love the taste. The other day though I started noticing a discrepancy in my peppermint reserve. I said to myself that someone else must be partaking of the delicious “peppermintness” I so adore.

I lacked solid evidence of this so I said maybe I miscounted the number of bags remaining.

Then came the bait and switch. Someone put OTHER types of peppermint tea in my box! The very gall! I depleted my authentic Heath & Heather reserve and moved on to another box. That went swiftly also and again I suspected foul play but lacked evidence. Until I was down to the last tea bag and arose the next day to find it and the box gone entirely! Proof! Which at the time didn’t appease me since I was out of my calming peppermint tea. I purchased another box (I really should buy it in bulk) and carried on with my monitoring – but I needed answers.

I decided to confront my mother aka the most likely suspect and while waving the box “asked” if she had been drinking this peppermint tea. She turned, scanned the label on the box and declared she doesn’t use that brand “specifically” then asked if I wanted it. I was taken aback! I exclaimed “it’s MINE!” To which she acted as though she had no clue as to how this magical box of peppermint tea kept appearing in the cupboard despite her not buying it.

I am now suspicious of my father but he always denies touching anything so that will be a lost cause. Clearly there is a peppermint tea goblin breaking into my home and violating my holdings for his perverse pleasures.

This isn’t the end, I can assure you of that!

Screw tumblr I’m on Instagram baby!

January 16, 2014

Right so before I started back blogging I got an iPhone and like countless other “sheeple” the urge to document every mundane aspect of my life overcame me.

All this to say I’m on Instagram and have been for ages now and have become quite the poster!

First post of 2014 with Video

January 7, 2014

So I’ve finally installed WordPress on my iPhone, over a year after having it. That means I’ll be more likely to post pics, videos and stories. I just hope I don’t post my “personal photos” accidentally! 😜

Check out the video here!

The purpose of this revised blog is to be more open with readers about what makes me tick, how things in the world work and to help everyone better understand what’s going on in the world around them in a way they can appreciate.

I’ll also be uploading to YouTube so check out my channel – guess what it’s called.

Watch this space to find out more of what’s happening in the life of the Superlative1.

The People We Once Called ‘Friend’

July 13, 2012

Sitting here thinking about the people I used to consider friends, who always needed help with something, a loan here and there, an ear, a shoulder, a friend, yet who have all found it so difficult to return the favour. I know how good a friend I am, can be and have been and I REFUSE to entertain those not worthy of my friendship, time or any other part of me.
This goes out to the excommunicated, and those about to be.

The Dead Ones (Original Thoughts by the Superlative1)

April 28, 2012

I envy the ones we lost, they have no more pain to speak of no more suffering, or torture.

We live for couture yet thrive without culture. What’s the point in speaking of the future?

Each heartbeat can echo the pain of a slighting, a separation or a departing.

I envy the dead ones.

We celebrate the bullies and silence the noble.

Nobel prizes for suckers, such rhetoric is idle.

A war is waged on a Facebook page.

I envy the dead ones.

A speech in church quells the masses, breaks their spirits, supports the classes.

Grandstanding forever, no substance, no basis, stand up cheer, clap monkeys and asses.

Yet God is our most divisive treasure.

I envy the dead ones.

The Superlative1 Returns!

April 28, 2012

It’s been two years and I should be ashamed of that, but I have been so busy that I have been unable to continue my philanthropic work (because I surely have mad $0 doing this charity) but I felt like I have more to say and more of you to touch and share things with and get feedback from! And with that, I promise that I’m back and ready for the action!

Barbados Fashion Week 2010

October 21, 2010

Barbados Fashion Week 2010 begins tomorrow, 22nd October and yours truly will be covering the event and chatting with some of the designers.

This year I am very interested in speaking with the younger designers, such as Andrew Harris, AHMW (Andrew Harris Mens Wear) because it is very rare to come across a talented young designer whose primary focus has been on mens clothing. I have a selfish reason for this because I am a man, and as such, I like designers who design for people like me… men.

I have already planned out my wardrobe for the event, and I will hopefully be making contacts for a future endeavor that I am working on, which I will keep you guys posted on. I have not attended in a couple years and I am really excited to see how the designers have matured and how the event itself has developed.

Barbados Fashion Week 2010: Dress for it! And will I ever!

After the Hiatus

May 9, 2010

First of all let me say Happy Mother’s Day to all you givers of life out there. Hope the way you treat your children is reflected in the treatment you receive today. Be that a testament to or an indictment against your parenting skills is all on you.

Anyway it’s been one full year since I’ve posted and so many things have happened personally and internationally. I’m now a firm believer in Blackberry Mobile Devices (aka phones), I’ve left the public service and now working for myself because clearly this isn’t my main stay of income… what else… um… I’ve made new friends, excommunicated persons who I used to call friends, and general anarchy and chaos prevailed. I purchased two watches since the last time I posted:

This sexy Guess watch above for Summer

and this equally sexy Encore Oz watch by Marc Ecko for Winter.

All in all, it’s the same old thing:
Men are dogs
Women are bitches
Money gets spent
And it’s all for the riches.

Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter for more timely updates, at RoHareVodka (just click the name) or check the Twitter sidebar I reactivated today with the new twitter name, same account, different name.

Thank you all for sticking with me during my down-time and there’s more to come, just wait and see.

AQUA Barbados Closed!

May 4, 2009

In the most tragic news since the death of Princess Diana of Whales and of the World Trade Center bombings, news reaching the desk of The Superlative1 is that one of the best restaurants in the island, and one of the favourites of all the Superlative1 family has been closed permanently!

It saddens me that the economy has affected fine dining so much that AQUA Restaurant and Lounge has been made the next victim. Also as a result, the next installment of AQUA Del Mar has been canceled, further taking a toll on the nightlife. People need to party in times of recession. It gives people an escape from the pain and troubles of their declining existences. Not to say that ignoring a problem is the solution, but if it’s beyond your control, dwelling and wallowing certainly won’t make a difference.

R.I.P Aqua Barbados, you will be sorely missed.

Countdown to Exodus

April 2, 2009

As that song by Chantal Kraviazuck goes,  “All my bags are packed I’m ready to go…” pretty much echoes my current sentiment as it relates to my zeal for a relocation. Yes the grounded world traveler plans on taking on a greater metropolitan existence.

I have spent a great deal of time contemplating which city to move to, especially from an island such as Barbados. The significance of the origin of the flights stems from two standpoints, one if the confusing and tedious issue of immigration- the ease with which my relocation can be expedited, and the other is that of aesthetics. I mean come on, I come from a holiday destination with multimillion dollar real estate right around the corner. I can’t go from living in ‘paradise’ to surviving a hell of my own choosing. So I need to give it a lot of thought.

So far I have narrowed it down to three countries, Canada, England and the United States of America. However, Canada is clearly my number one pick because currently, it’s the least controversial. As far as cities within, it’s Toronto, New York and London. The least pretentious as well as the cleanest of the three, Toronto comes out on top. Getting back to immigration, it would be easier for me to travel to either Toronto or London without a Visa, whereas for America on a whole, I would need an NIV (Non-Immigrant Visa), a process which can take months in and of itself, is costly and after your wait and expense, there is no guarantee that you will succeed in your application for one. Folly.

So that rules out the U.S.

Next point, England is just… gloomy, whereas Canada is consistent cold snow but it has sun! Now, whereas the sun and I are not friends, if I can see it and not have to be adversely affected by it, that works for me. Also, I have to mention this little fact.  I LOVE COATS! I went visiting the Burling Coat Factory site looking at coats that for obvious reasons would make no sense to be worn in Tropical Barbados.  So to all the nay-sayers telling me how one it’ll be cold, I say “You can put things on to make you warm, you can’t take enough off to make you cool.”

Finally, the issue of job opportunities comes up. Canada really does have an exceptional job market right now, and luckily, I have experience in SO many different areas, finding a job may not prove as difficult as it might be in the shrinking violets of London and New York, save if I were a drug dealer or prostitute, but that’s neither here nor there.

So, as I mentioned, I am working on a strategy of departure and have decided upon the fine city of Toronto. Fund raising efforts to be announced later. Will keep you posted.

Love, or something like it,

9.75 Things That Annoy Me

March 22, 2009

1) People who think they’re a lot smarter than they really are.
Give me a good old ‘idiot’ who knows his/her limitations than a downright jackass who thinks he/she was robbed out of the nobel lauriet.

2) People with messenger viruses who don’t realize simply changing their passwords would solve the problem!

3) People who cannot read a URL and determine when a link is safe or not.
The reason this annoys me is simple: I wanted to send a contact a link to a youtube video, to which I heard “I don’t click links” and I was like… “Is there some weird youtube virus I’m unaware of?”

4) Customer service representatives with no training!
Few things in life inspire me to rage as a CSR who needs a good back hand. Imagine going for coffee to see some… girl… on the company phone talking her personal business, I go up to her and look her full in her face, she look s at me, looks off and continues with her conversation moving out of sight. Suffice it to say I went around to face her again and racist remarks ensued, but that’s neither here nor there.

4.75) Fake people.
You know what I mean, be they persons who went to high school with you, someone from the office or just random strangers, those persons who try to be all sweet and sugary but leave that nasty artificial sweetener taste in your mouth. Saccharin.

5.75) Taxi Drivers
The reason they annoy me is that they tend to do THE most foolishness on the roads, cause several accidents but often evade being actually IN an accident. I just hate to see those taxi cones coming, I just know to get to the nearest sidewalk, wall or lamp post to protect myself.

6.75) People who feel the need to question EVERYTHING
Here’s a kicker, if I wanted your input, more than likely, it was in jest. Why then were I to say “I’m going to the gas station.” lead to a 20 minute debate on the finer points of gas stations vs. supermarkets, and gas stations vs. minimarts and corner stores? Or better yet, if you get invited to attend some event or the other and you decline as is your prerogative some nosy person is going to ask “Why not?” Grrrr… because I don’t want to. THERE! I SAID IT! HAPPY NOW?!

7.75) Twitter in general.
Up to this very moment I just go through the motions of updating my status or whatever they choose to call it but I have no real understanding of the point of it. It’s like taking having no life to new heights.

8.75) Recent articles in the Nation Newspaper
Don’t get me wrong, I am not trying to imply that I am the most gifted writer there ever was to grace to pages of the internet, however I must say that the caliber and content of the articles of late are so childish, baseless and full of nothing but sensationalism which is NOT journalism at its finest. Thumbs down.

9.75) The security firm which patrols my neighborhood.
I would like to take this opportunity to request that the owners of J.E. Security monitor the speed with which their drivers accelerate around St. James/ St. Thomas. Hearing them braking and screeching at the intersection makes me fear for the safety of the residents as it relates to being struck down, more than of being robbed!
