Rihanna Hides R8 Tracks in Barbados iTunes Store

I’m sure by now many of you have heard the song “World Peace” by Billboard stalwart and general musical goddess, Rihanna. However if you’ve been looking for it on the U.S. iTunes Store you’re out of luck. It’s currently only available in the Barbados iTunes Store.

I’m convinced she just happened to place the song(s) there for safekeeping since chances are, no one realizes that they’re there to begin with!

Ironically, my iTunes account is set to the U.S. and I can’t access the store of my native country… You win Rihanna, I’ll wait until you release it on the continent.

Okay so this is all a lie. Sigh, but wouldn’t it have been cool?

Ultraviolence – Lana Del Rey Gets It Right

June 19, 2014

I’ve always been a fan of Lana Del Rey, from the first time I happened across her song Video Games while listening to the UK top 100 (don’t ask). I needed to know who this vintage siren was who understood my nostalgia towards life gone by while remaining fully present, in the present.

When I got Born To Die and I listened to it from start to finish I said “This is the most amazing sh*t I have listened to in ages!” Then came Paradise, or Born to Die – Paradise Edition. Again, amazing tracks. I was full and in love with the poetry, vocal stylings, controversy and audacity of an actual songwriter cooing about her life, love, her dreams and of course her flavored vagina! I wasn’t expecting her to release anything for a while and I resigned myself to that. Then West Coast came out all of a sudden and I bought it as soon as I saw it on iTunes.

West Coast touched me in a way none of her other tracks did before. The dual styled song within a song speaks to the sentiment of what the West Coast (California) represents to Americans but for me, it spoke to the West Coast of my little island and how I feel whenever I’m there – hopeful, ambitious, gifted, revered and almost worshipped. Life DOES get better, on the West Coast.

Ultraviolence as a title tickled me. I first saw it on her Instagram while trolling through my feed, I said “yaaaaaassssss bitch! Give it to me!” Upon regaining my composure I said I must get the album when it came out.

Hearing Ultraviolence was like hearing my unwritten journal entries being sung out loud by a voice that wasn’t mine. Here were my innermost thoughts and secrets being aired and reverberating through my bed from my subwoofer. I can relate to the album a little too much, more than even my closest friends will realize.

The toxic relationships, the unwavering love in the face of apathy, emotional retardation, indifference and general melancholy reminded me of my dedicated love, like St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes, that still lives on to this day. A love that haunts, overwhelms and envelops.
F*cked My Way Up to the Top has replaced Cola in my mind’s default Tourette’s like song outburst. The gall of her! She is definitely controversial but it doesn’t feel deliberate. It’s simply honest and unapologetic (Hey Rihanna) and she makes real music about real life and real experiences. Some literal, some metaphorical, some lived and some witnessed.

The me of today feels about Lana Del Rey’s music like how the me of the 90s felt about Alanis Morissette. Having grown darker and more honest with myself and my pathology, Lana Del Rey is my new drug of choice.

And to the one person who won’t read this – Old Money is the song I dedicate to you, even if you change your mind I’ll come, come come.

Mother Sues Beyoncé After Daughter Dies Giving Head on Surfboard

I do not even care if this is a hoax or not. I just cackled uncontrollably and decided to share.

You’re welcome!

I’m actually a huge fan of the song Drunk In Love featuring Jay Z so this really gave me the giggles but if she DID die doing that well I only have one word…

Amateur.

First post of 2014 with Video

January 7, 2014

So I’ve finally installed WordPress on my iPhone, over a year after having it. That means I’ll be more likely to post pics, videos and stories. I just hope I don’t post my “personal photos” accidentally! 😜

Check out the video here!

The purpose of this revised blog is to be more open with readers about what makes me tick, how things in the world work and to help everyone better understand what’s going on in the world around them in a way they can appreciate.

I’ll also be uploading to YouTube so check out my channel – guess what it’s called.

Watch this space to find out more of what’s happening in the life of the Superlative1.

Where is Rockstar101?

June 18, 2010

While looking through the Billboard Hot 100 checking to see how Shontelle’s highest rising single to date Impossible is doing this week,

I noticed that I hadn’t seen Rockstar 101 by Rihanna (ft. Slash).

Usually, before the video even comes out, the song is SOMEWHERE in the Hot 100 but with the video out a couple weeks now, I’m shocked that it’s no where to be found. At least I was at first.
Then I gave it some thought… the song which stuck out to me the first time I heard the album when it was released, and in my mind, this would have been a power single, especially the way in which I invisioned the music video. So when I heard this was going to be a single I was all excited thinking oh yay! Another potential number one single, then I saw the video and my jaw dropped.

That video looks like how a ghetto person imagines Rock music to be, as opposed to some artistic representation of being a Rockstar. Then when she suddenly dresses up like an Eastern European dominatrix, I gave up on the video altogether. Sad to say, worst video to date by Rihanna. Colour me disappointed.

Oh by the way- why are they putting her in blackface? Just a question.

Guess Who’s Back! Teairra Mari

June 13, 2010

Since I participated in that SingersRoom Covergirl Next Diva thingie where I voted for Shontelle who subsequently won the most votes, I have  been receiving emails from SingersRoom with little snippets about artists and the goings-on in their lives. I was more surprised than annoyed and I decided to give a read and it’s actually insightful.

The second email I got was about Teairra Mari’s new project “At That Point” from which her latest single  “Sponsor” the Gold Digger anthem comes. The article made mention of the fact that she’s still touring promoting her single despite the video being banned on several stations. After watching the video 2 things came to mind, 1- she’s fat. 2- the video’s crap but nothing ban worthy… I think people are just on a hater binge now. I mean… ALL songs from Ciara of recent want banning from tv if they’re going to ban Teairra. Meanwhile, I’m actually a fan of Ciara (hey girl) but really she been trying too hard to act too loose and it’s coming across as desperate, but I digress.

Peep the video below and see for yourself.
